QIGONG
Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy (CMQT) is an ancient form of energetic medicine originating from China. It is one of the four main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical massage. The main focus of CMQT is in balancing the Bio-electromagnetic energy (Qi) and restoring harmony in Yin-Yang.
According to TCM thought, disruptions in this bio-electromagnetic energy commonly occur throughout our lifetime as a result of poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, physical injuries, suppressed emotions, and aging. The goal of CMQT is to correct these bio-energetic imbalances and blockages. This enables the body to strengthen and regulate the internal organs, the nervous system and the immune system, relieve pain, regulate hormones, and strengthen and release deep-seated emotions and stress.
The word Qigong is most easily represented as an umbrella term which covers a wide variety of practices and methods such as meditation and spiritual cultivation, healing movements and dance, strengthening exercises, massage and stretching, chanting and religious cultivation.
Grounded in martial background and practice, our Qigong classes our primarily focused on medical Qigong practices which have been passed on for hundreds of years. Some of the forms which involve a selection of forms, techniques, clinical applications and vigorous research to provide a mind-body healing practice beneficial for people in all stages of life.
Some of the Qigong forms we teach include the Ba Duan Jin (8 Silken Brocades), Yi Ji Jin (Muscle/Tendon Metamorphosis), Wu Xi Qin (Five Animal Frolics) as well as the Liu Ze Jue (Six Sound Healing).
Although there are many different Qigong practices and schools, at their core they all share a primary goal towards adjusting and aligning the body, breath and mind. Together known as the ‘Three Adjustments’.
Through the harmonization and mobilization of the ‘Three Adjustments’ Qigong practice regulates the autonomic conditioning to its optimal state, maximizes the physical body to its fullest potential and invigorates all levels of human experience.

TAIJIQUAN
by relaxed, circular movements that work in concert with breath regulation and the cultivation of a righteous, calm and neutral mind.
Taijiquan was developed during the mid-seventeenth century in Wenxian County in the Henan Province of central China and is still heavily practiced throughout the country by people of all ages and by different ethnic groups.
Taijiquan’s basic movements are centered on Wubu (five steps) and Bafa (eight techniques) which are practiced through a series of routines, exercises and Tuishou (hand-pushing performed with a partner).
Original influenced by Daoist and Confucian ideas and theories of traditional Chinese medicine, Taijiquan developed into several systems (or styles) named after a clan or a master’s personal name such as Yang, Chen, Sun and Wu.
Taijiquan builds upon the yin and yang cycle and the cultural understanding of the unity of heaven and humanity. It has slowly been disseminated through legends, proverbs and rituals, among other vehicles of expression.
Modern research has found Taijiquan to be beneficial in the treatment and management of many long term psychological and physical ailments as well as an effect adjunct exercise to rigorous training routine.
